About The Position

The Studio Technician at Nexstar Broadcasting is responsible for supporting live newscasts through various technical roles, including video editing, floor directing, and operating studio equipment. This part-time position requires collaboration with producers and directors to ensure smooth production elements and effective communication of technical requirements.

Requirements

• 2 or more years of professional experience in television production.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to run an audio board for live newscasts and floor direct.
• Effective leadership skills to motivate and communicate with producers and production crew.
• Strong judgment and decision-making skills in a live news production environment.
• Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of news video and audio production equipment technologies.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Working knowledge of non-linear video editing.
• Ability to make quick decisions and give accurate instructions during live broadcasts.
• Team player with innovative thinking and creativity.

Responsibilities

• Edit video for newscasts using Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Floor direct and manage the studio floor during live broadcasts.
• Operate studio cameras, jib, steadicam, and run the audio board for live newscasts.
• Communicate all technical and staging requirements between producers and directors.
• Collaborate with producers and directors to facilitate production elements, including lighting, camera-blocking, props, and set furnishings.
• Manage guests who appear in newscasts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
