About The Position

The Studio Director is the strategic business leader and industry ambassador for Formosa Casting Studio, responsible for establishing FCS as the premier destination for casting, self-tape, podcasts, headshots, and industry events in Los Angeles. This role focuses primarily on business development, strategic partnerships, and market positioning (70% strategic/sales, 30% operational oversight) to drive revenue growth and industry reputation. The Director will develop the long-term strategic vision for FCS, cultivate executive-level relationships across studios and production companies, and oversee an Operations Manager who handles day-to-day facility management and technical operations. Success is measured through revenue growth, strategic partnership development, market share within the LA casting ecosystem, and premium service adoption rates.

Requirements

  • Established relationships within LA casting director community and production company decision-makers
  • Experience managing teams and building organizational structures
  • Proven track record in business development, revenue growth, and studio management
  • Experience working collaboratively with marketing teams on strategic initiatives and brand positioning
  • Understanding of casting workflows and studio operations (hands-on technical proficiency not required)
  • Team management experience with direct reports and ability to build effective organizational structures
  • Strategic thinking and long-term business planning capabilities
  • Experience with P&L management, revenue forecasting, and business metrics
  • Understanding of casting workflows and industry standards
  • Strategic pricing authority with executive oversight for rate-setting decisions
  • Strong organizational capabilities for 70/30 strategic/operational oversight modelUnderstanding of studio utilization metrics and operational efficiency

  • Occasional evening and weekend work during peak casting periods and industry networking events

Responsibilities

  • Drive studio bookings and client acquisition through existing industry relationships
  • Develop and execute annual strategic business plan for FCS growth, market expansion, and positioning
  • Lead quarterly business reviews with Talent Systems executives on market opportunities, revenue performance, and strategic initiatives
  • Set competitive rates for all services within established parameters and approval guidelines
  • Build and maintain executive-level partnerships with casting directors, production companies, major studios, and entertainment industry decision-makers
  • Build recurring business for the podcast, headshot, self-tape, and events components of FCS
  • Identify and pursue enterprise-level partnership opportunities and strategic alliances
  • Create tiered pricing strategy and develop premium service offerings for high-value clients
  • Define and execute FCS's 3-year growth roadmap and market positioning strategy
  • Collaborate with Talent Systems marketing team on promotional campaigns, website development and maintenance, and industry outreach
  • Partner with Talent Systems executives and sales teams to leverage existing relationships and create cross-selling opportunities
  • Represent FCS at industry events and casting community gatherings as primary brand ambassador
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to Operations Manager who handles day-to-day studio operations
  • Oversee Operations Manager's hiring and management of camera operators and freelance casting crew
  • Monitor studio utilization metrics and operational KPIs; approve operational initiatives that drive efficiency
  • Approve operational procedures and service standards developed by Operations Manager
  • Review and approve major vendor relationships; delegate facility maintenance oversight to Operations Manager
  • Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions
  • Lead competitive intelligence efforts and comprehensive market opportunity assessment
  • Develop expansion plans and business cases for new service lines including headshot photography, self-tape rooms, podcast studio, and emerging industry needs
  • Identify and evaluate potential acquisition, partnership, or investment opportunities to accelerate FCS growth
  • Create and implement strategies, in partnership with the marketing team, to promote studio services within the entertainment community
  • Establish FCS's brand presence and reputation within the LA casting ecosystem
  • Leverage existing casting director relationships to establish FCS's industry reputation
  • Serve as primary point of contact for strategic clients, VIP visitors, and executive-level relationships
  • Act as liaison between actors, casting directors, and production teams at the strategic and partnership level
  • Build FCS's brand presence within the LA casting ecosystem
  • Ensure exceptional client experience that enhances Talent Systems' overall reputation
