About The Position

Clarkson College is currently accepting applications for student worker positions. Once you have applied and completed the interview process, you will be assigned to one of the available student worker roles based on your skills, interests, and departmental needs. The student worker can work up to 19 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to and complete work hours on-site at Pinewood Elementary School.
  • Exhibit a desire to work with children.
  • Previous experience working with elementary school students in a tutoring, mentoring, or teaching capacity preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team environment.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Clarkson College.
  • Knowledge of lab equipment and processes required for the Student Lab Assistant position.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Word required for various positions.

  • Familiarity with educational technology and resources for teaching reading.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Computer and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support and mentorship to elementary-aged students.
  • Help students with reading and math comprehension, fluency, literacy skills, and any other curriculum set forth by the teacher(s).
  • Work closely with the school principal, teachers, and after-school program directors.
  • Create a nurturing and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Assist with organizing and stocking linens, Sharps containers, and gloves in the Interprofessional Learning Center.
  • Support during set-up/clean-up for faculty simulations and skills.
  • Assist with manikin and equipment cleaning, running manikins for simulations, and software support/updates for all computers.
  • Provide general office support duties in the Financial Aid Office, Registrar's Office, and other departments.
  • Organize grocery deliveries and track inventory in the Food Pantry.
