About the position

The Center for Student Engagement is looking for a part time Student Director of Technology to assist the Coordinator of Technology. The Student Director of Technology reports to and will work with the Coordinator of Technology and will also manage a Tech II student worker. The individual’s job will be to assist in the installation, maintenance, and improvement of technology in support of departmental goals and objectives. The individual will work with all technology initiatives in support of ASUN and the Center for Student Engagement’s programs and services.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide tasks for the Tech II Student Worker
  • Improve the 'This is Nevada' app and the user experience with continuous updates, notifications, and new modules to better assist the students on campus
  • Assist with surveying of campus-wide monitors
  • Provide user training and troubleshooting for a wide variety of programs and software such as GivePulse, Adobe Acrobat, and Nevada Box
  • Keep all office computers updated, running efficiently, and keep software current
  • Problem solve any malfunctioning technology and research new and innovative software/hardware
  • Assist the webmaster with maintaining the main websites for Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN), the Center for Student Engagement (CSE), Student Expression, Rights & Responsibilities and Pack Rides
  • Preserve the Student Publication Websites, the Nevada Sagebrush, the Insight Magazine, the Wolf Pack Radio, and the Brushfire Literary and Arts Journal
  • Continue ASUN's mission of staying in line with the ADA compliance laws and solve any problems that are found
  • Manage Mailing Lists and assist with class course content in WebCampus
  • Manage and delegate Technology Department Requests from TDX in a timely manner
  • Support and assist Coordinator of Technology as needed
  • Follow TDX onboarding for new hires

Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate has basic hardware knowledge (RAM, BIOS, MOBA, etc.)
  • Candidate has familiarity with multiple modes of technology (tablets, desktops, laptops)

Nice-to-haves

  • Candidate has prior knowledge of Website coding (PHP, HTML, CSS)
  • Candidate is an Information Systems or Computer Science Engineering major
  • Candidate has powershell knowledge
