About The Position

The role of Research Communications Student Worker/Intern presents the opportunity to contribute to the dynamic, high-impact Research & Innovation programs of the University of Nevada, Reno. Research & Innovation is currently seeking a Research Communications Student Worker/Intern to help develop news and information that promotes the research, creative and scholarly work of faculty, staff and students, plus the wide-range of programs and activities available through the Research & Innovation division. Writing is emphasized, plus the position provides the opportunity to develop other aspects of communication such as social media, photography and graphic design. The Research Communications Student Worker/Intern will interact with members of the Research & Innovation team, University faculty and researchers, and representatives of business and industry.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate must be able to work during Summer 2026

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate has strong writing skills
  • Candidate has familiarity with Microsoft Office, photo editing, and design software
  • Candidate has knowledge of writing/style guides such as the AP Stylebook

Responsibilities

  • Development of stories, news releases, web content and social media
  • Performing preliminary research, conducting interviews (in-person and virtually), writing and editing
  • Coordinate other aspects of multimedia communication such as photos, graphics or videos
  • Assists with digital platforms such as news release distribution services and content management systems
  • Other tasks as assigned
