This position is for eligible, current students enrolled at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this position is a student currently enrolled on one of the master’s degree programs at GCTS.
The candidate must have some prior customer service experience.
Candidates must be able to work with diverse personality types and cultures and remain calm under pressure, especially in troubleshooting situations.
Candidates must be confident with technology and able to learn new technology easily.
Candidates must be able to communicate clearly with others.
Must be willing and able to work Saturdays.
Responsibilities
Working at the circulation desk: checking in and checking out books.
Students workers should develop a basic understanding of the circulation system and be able to answer basic circulation questions.
Shelving books.
Students should develop a basic knowledge of how to shelve books using the Library of Congress classification system.
Answering the telephone, which entails answering basic questions concerning the library, circulation issues, and other basic customer service issues; or knowing to whom the phone call can be forwarded?
Teaching library users how to use the online catalog.
Ability to open and close the library following outlined procedures.
Assisting in the Charlotte Bookstore.
Flexibility in covering shifts in case of illness or emergency.
Must be willing and able to work Saturdays.
Other duties as assigned by the Librarian or the Charlotte Bookstore Manager.
