About The Position

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - Civic and Community Engagement (CCE). We are looking for emerging student leaders who love to learn, are self-reflective, creative, and have a collaborative spirit. The CCE Student Worker will assist with event development, development of marketing materials and promotion strategies, data collection, resource development, collaboration, and assistance of trainings and initiatives. They will develop a comprehensive knowledge of civic and community engagement initiatives and programs. The CCE Student Worker acts as a student liaison for the Office of CCE to various committees, task force meetings, student government, and student organizations, such as through offering student-facing workshops and resources. The CCE Student Worker will interact with external community partners and must represent themselves with a high level of professionalism. They will be involved in developing high-level and sensitivity training and resources to create a more equitable campus for historically minoritized communities. We trust each CCE Student Worker to demonstrate autonomy, empathy and high-level emotional intelligence to engage in complex discussions around civic and community engagement and other topics. The CCE student worker will also support the daily operations of The Collective, offer administrative and office support duties, research strategies for successful student and employee engagement, and work with CCE staff to develop best practices for passive, social, and educational programming and student trainings. They will work on special projects agreed upon with the CCE staff. Training and coaching will be provided.

Requirements

  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).
  • Desire to promote resources that correspond to student needs for academic success and overall well-being.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operations of The Collective.
  • Serve as a campus liaison between student organizations and CCE.
  • Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisors to discuss job responsibilities, development of programing topics, and feedback for growth.
  • Assist with office support, including creating and editing Word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Receive training and professional development related to CCE topics.
  • Represent self and the office with a high degree of professionalism when engaging in leadership of peers.
  • Work with the marketing team and other office student workers to create, post, and promote programming marketing materials via social media and develop resources.
  • Table and engage with larger campus community to promote CCE office programming and student training.
  • Assist with the design and execution of CCE events & special projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with student organizations, staff, and faculty to identify campus and community needs.
  • Assist with student-facing workshops and resource development related to civic and community engagement initiatives and practices.
  • Attend trainings, conferences, and professional development opportunities to gain additional expertise, skills, and knowledge related to relevant topics.
