About The Position

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is an emergency response entity, and this status can affect working hours, travel, and change in duties as needed. Under general direction, the Student Worker for the Business Services division will assist with developing and maintaining a consistent and effective reconciliation and monitoring system to ensure all system interfaces function as intended. Aids Investigating and resolving errors, mis-feeds, and other interface exceptions. Prepares journal entries as needed. Work is restricted to college students. Priorities or class schedules to be submitted on a weekly basis. Work schedule and work adjustments subject to prior approval. Work is performed in College Station, TX. This position is not eligible for benefits. Work hours may increase from, up to 19 hours, to up to 40 hours, in-between semester breaks.

Requirements

  • Education – Current student status with an institution of higher education or future student enrollment status for the upcoming school semester.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and other operating systems, and devices.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify issues, and problem solve.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

  • Helps enter TDEM invoices into AggieBuy.
  • Produces periodic reconciliations and management reports as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining a consistent and effective reconciliation and monitors system to ensure all system interfaces function as intended.
  • Aid in investigating and resolving errors.
  • Performs clerical duties, such as faxing documents, making copies, printing documents, scanning, preparing correspondence, coordinating, and scheduling meetings, scribing during meetings, retrieving mail, and messages.
  • Provides support and contributes to Business Services projects.
  • May shadow Finance or Business Services staff in different functions and roles to learn about the fundamentals of Finance or Business Services.
  • Face-to-face and person-to-person interactions are required.
  • Maintains regular course of attendance during authorized work schedule.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
