SACE Academic Mentors will work with student-athletes needing academic support in a one-on-one setting to teach study skills, organizational skills and help them review class material. The role involves attending weekly academic mentoring sessions with athletes assigned by the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) and providing academic mentoring consistently throughout the semester and final exam week. Mentors are expected to commit to at least 6 hours of academic mentoring per week, preferably during weekday evening hours. Additionally, mentors must demonstrate completion of at least 45 hours of college credit in residence at an accredited institution of higher learning and abide by all SACE study hall policies. Attendance at all mandatory SACE trainings and regular academic mentor meetings is required. Mentors must maintain academic integrity and comply with NCAA and Baylor policies and regulations in all sessions. They will also develop and maintain strong rapport with SACE by communicating in email and in person about student-athlete's academic progress, assist students in a designated academic subject or discipline as needed, and foster educational growth and development by identifying educational needs and providing assistance as necessary. Confidentiality of all pertinent information must be ensured, and excellent customer service should be provided to constituents. Maintaining a safe and supportive environment while holding assigned students accountable to all standards and complying with University policies is essential. Regular and punctual attendance is also required.
