GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Student Worker, Administration position, under general direction, provides administrative support and general office duties for the Administration Division, including assisting with compiling reports, data entry, and conducting records retention research. Assists with redirecting a variety of inquiries to the appropriate TDEM staff and provides support by conducting research in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulatory law. Collaborates with personnel to perform tasks relevant to the function of the division. Assists support staff with specialized projects or as business operation dictates. Moderate supervision with this position. This position will give the student worker the opportunity to learn and grow in various skillsets, such as public service, administration, records retention, records management, and compliance. This position reports to the Special Events Manager. Work is restricted to college students. Priorities or class schedules to be submitted on a weekly basis. Work schedule and work adjustments subject to prior approval. This position is not eligible for benefits. Work hours may increase from, up to 19 hours, to up to 40 hours, in-between semester breaks. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform clerical duties, take memos, maintain files, and organize documents; photocopy, fax, etc. as needed. Assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain PowerPoint presentations. Take notes and memos during meetings; type documents, drafts, and reports; sort and manage files. Runs general errands that may require ability to go from one location to another during working hours Manage databases and input information, data, and records. Set up, break down, organize, and maintain conference rooms, training rooms, and meeting rooms; update agency calendars. Attend agency functions and networking events. Shadow multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks. Review, analyze, edit, and summarize documents; ensure all documents within the section are standardized and consistent in formatting. Fulfill tasks set out by supervisors. Maintain a regular work schedule, timekeeping, and productivity. Perform related work or other duties as assigned. Face-to-face and person-to-person interactions are required.
