About The Position

The Student Visual Field Technician assists the physicians, technicians and other clinical staff in the appropriate delivery of patient care services by performing visual fields, ophthalmic imaging, patient rooming and initial visual workups.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to carry and move heavy objects in excess of forty pounds (event materials, meeting room set-up, technology, etc.).
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, move, stoop, reach, and stand for long intervals.
  • Vision correctable to at least 20/30 in one eye.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-volume clinic.
  • Ability to operate ophthalmic equipment and computers.
  • Strong analytical skills to complete the technical aspects of patient examinations.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment at West Virginia University as a part-time or full-time student.

Responsibilities

  • Performs visual field testing, lensometry and keratometry on patients.
  • Conducts and records formal and informal visual fields to include, confrontation, Amsler Grid, Goldmann Perimetry, Automated perimetry, and OCT.
  • Interacts with and assist clinical staff and faculty.
