About The Position
The Student – Tutor-Writing position works in the Writing Center to provide academic writing support to their Stevenson University undergraduate peers. Primary responsibilities include meeting with students in one-on-one sessions, offering support at various stages of the writing process, and participating in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support for students at any stage of the writing process through scheduled appointments and/or drop-in hours.
- Assist students in understanding assignment expectations and improving writing strategies.
- Support students in developing research, drafting, and revision techniques.
- Maintain accurate and timely communication with faculty and the Director of the Writing Center.
- Attend all required meetings and professional development sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and Writing Center Activities.
- Serve as liaison to first-year writing courses, when applicable.
- Help students to access additional resources or services when appropriate.
- Attend scheduled tutor training workshops (dates TBA each semester).
- Maintain confidentiality of student, department, and University.
