About The Position

The Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time University Supervisors of Student Teachers and Residents. This position serves as a University Supervisor for teacher licensure candidates in student teaching and/or residency assignments across various K-12 educational areas. Responsibilities include observing, coaching, and evaluating teacher candidates, conducting site visits, facilitating seminars, and maintaining communication with the Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships. University Supervisors must be available for school visits during the school day and for communication with OCEP and assigned student teachers at specified times.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Education or related field.
• Teaching experience in public or private school settings.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree, plus 30 semester hours of relevant post-degree study.
• Teaching experience in content area of Supervision.
• Supervisory/Coaching experience (e.g. as a principal, department chair, instructional coach, or as a previous mentor teacher/cooperating teacher).

Responsibilities

• Serve as University Supervisor for teacher licensure candidates in student teaching and/or residency assignments.
• Observe, coach, and evaluate teacher candidates’ performance in student teaching/residency placements.
• Conduct 3-4 site visits over the 16-week placement for observation, coaching, and assessment; complete mid and final term evaluation.
• Facilitate 5 hours of regularly-scheduled student teaching seminars across the semester.
• Guide and evaluate students’ work on the required Collection of Teaching Artifacts and Reflections final project.
• Maintain close communication with the Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships (OCEP) throughout the semester.
• Attend professional development and training sessions for University Supervisors.
