The NorthStar Foundation is dedicated to addressing the critical, unmet needs of young men in North Omaha, aiming to help them develop into healthy, educated, and employed members of the community. As the only single-sex, male afterschool program in Greater Omaha, NorthStar serves boys from 3rd to 12th grade. The Student Support Services Coordinator plays a vital role in this mission by implementing and coordinating support services that enhance students' academic and behavioral outcomes. This position requires a deep understanding of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports for Behavior (MTSSB) model, focusing on providing both individual and group interventions to support students' needs. In this role, the coordinator will work collaboratively with program staff to address and improve student behavior, thereby enhancing academic performance. Responsibilities include organizing professional development for staff on mandatory reporting laws and cultural competency, as well as supporting the implementation of human development and sexuality programming in collaboration with the high school team. The coordinator will also monitor school attendance and coordinate intensive services for students and families, linking them to necessary mental health and community resources. This comprehensive approach ensures that NorthStar's services are aligned with the models adopted in the Omaha Public Schools, providing coordinated, wrap-around support for all program beneficiaries.
