About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Student Success Services (SSS), the SSS Teacher will serve as an elementary educator providing specialized instruction and support for students with identified learning needs, particularly in reading and math. This teacher will work closely with the Director of Student Success Services and the Elementary School SSS Coordinator to implement targeted interventions, monitor student progress, and support student growth within a Christ-centered learning environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
  • Willing to enroll eligible children at Southside Christian School
  • Must be able to articulate a deep understanding of a biblically informed philosophy of Christian education.
  • Must have experience working directly with students.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage a classroom effectively, teach with excellence, and create an engaging, relational, and supportive learning environment.
  • Show excellence in planning, collaboration, teamwork, and communication.
  • Be creative, demonstrate a strong work ethic, think outside the box, and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • Must be able to obtain ACSI Certification.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking around the classroom.
  • Must be able to respond to students in an emergency.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a school setting is preferred.
  • master's preferred
  • Orton-Gillingham trained preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach specialized, small group, instruction in reading and math for elementary students with learning disabilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction
  • Communicate and meet regularly with parents regarding student progress, growth, and areas of need
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, the SSS Coordinator, and the Director of Student Success Services to develop and implement individualized intervention plans
  • Administer academic and reading assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, interventions, and communication with parents and staff
  • Create a nurturing, structured, and Christ-centered classroom environment that promotes student responsibility, confidence, and engagement
  • Establish and maintain appropriate behavioral expectations to ensure an orderly and productive learning environment
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Student Success Services
