The Student Success Coach at Olympic College plays a pivotal role in supporting students throughout their educational journey within a Guided Pathways framework. This position is designed to provide comprehensive advising, coaching, and guidance to a designated caseload of students, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to achieve their academic goals. The Student Success Coach will assist students from the point of admission through to completion, creating individualized academic plans tailored to each student's unique aspirations and needs. This involves coaching students on developing essential strategies, skills, and self-efficacy to successfully navigate their academic paths. The coach will monitor student progress, provide proactive outreach to those who deviate from their plans, and connect them with resources that promote success. Additionally, the role includes facilitating a smooth transition to faculty advisors for further educational and career mentoring. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Student Success Coach will work closely with divisional faculty and staff to ensure students receive accurate information and comprehensive support. The coach will also be responsible for outreach and intervention with students who are not meeting Academic Standards Progress and those identified as at risk by faculty. Training will be provided to Student Affairs staff, faculty, and other departments on best practices in advising, administrative policies, and advising tools such as degree planning worksheets and the ctcLink Advisor Center. The essential functions of the Student Success Coach include maintaining ongoing relationships with students, conducting advising appointments, employing case management strategies, and providing information about educational and career pathways. The coach will also assist students in developing academic completion plans, facilitate enrollment and registration choices, and monitor academic progress. Furthermore, the coach will conduct outreach to students not meeting academic standards, provide support for diverse student populations, and maintain up-to-date knowledge about Olympic College's programs and policies. The role requires independent decision-making to best serve the unique needs of each student, and the coach will be involved in creating and modifying academic plans, suggesting appropriate courses, and managing financial aid petitions as necessary.
