About The Position

The Student Success Coach is responsible for meeting with all incoming assigned program core students. The individual will work with Academic Advisors and faculty to develop a process for identifying and arranging student success rubrics. Students identified to need additional course remediation, assistance, and tutoring will have regularly assigned meetings with the program Student Success Coach. Meeting with a Coach will also be optional and available for all program students. This position will work with identified students to develop success plans, connect students to internal and external resources, and assist with student remediation options.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associates Degree required, preferably in a field related to education, administration, or human service.
  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated, direct occupational experience with student success related activities, required.
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with clients and understanding their diverse life situations with the demonstrated ability to assist them in their process of enrolling educational services and assisting in obtaining other support services.
  • Ability to identify needed action without continual direction.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is required.
  • Ability to work with highly detailed regulations and procedures.
  • Adaptability and the ability to perform in a quickly changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Student Success Coaching: Collaborate with faculty and students to create individual student success plans.
  • Monitor student success plan progress through regular meetings and interventions.
  • Monitor attendance in mandatory academic sessions for WTCS Completion Grant participants and intervene as needed.
  • Assist with developing and monitoring student and peer mentoring groups.
  • Consolidate, develop, and share learning management resources (e.g., study skills, professionalism, remediation skills) for students.
  • Recommend students for continuation in intensive support or utilize a rubric for removal from remediation.
  • Support participants by referring them to appropriate College resources to achieve academic goals.
  • Assist faculty with guidance and mentoring support for students in academic achievement, college awareness/readiness, school success, and life-skills.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting instructors and students in improving academic achievement, identifying additional resources as needed.
  • Deliver a range of academic and instructional support services, including coordinating tutoring, identifying college and community resources, and encouraging participation in remediation/enrichment programs.
  • Team Collaboration: Connect with advisors and faculty to identify students needing remediation.
  • Attend course review sessions and collaborate with adjunct educators for resources, content development, and interventions.
  • Participate in program success committees and monitor program re-entry students.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and review data to ensure students demonstrate FVTC Employability Essentials.
  • Assist with division alignment with FVTC student retention efforts.
  • Track participant progress and success in their program courses.
  • Actively participate in meetings to provide optimal support and opportunities for program participants.
  • Work collaboratively with organizations to coordinate student orientation.
  • Assist with training and updating staff on internal resources for student support.
  • Program Planning and Delivery: Provide recommendations for student entry requirements and resource support for the WTCS Completion Grant program.
  • Utilize technology for tracking and grant reporting related to the WTCS Completion Grant.
  • Monitor supply inventories and requisition supplies as needed for effective operations.
  • Coordinate the design, procurement, and distribution of promotional and marketing materials.
  • Process requests, room reservations, and room set-ups for student success events.
