About The Position

Student Success Advisor In part, the Student Success Advisor is responsible for: managing general student concerns; promoting student engagement; holistic wellbeing; and academic, personal, and interpersonal success through individual coaching, small and large-scale programming, and through other department/institutional initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of one year of appropriately related experience required; experience in student services or academic advising preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Possess core professional traits including empathy, objectivity, self-awareness and initiative.
  • Demonstrate the ability and desire to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary advisor and point of contact for policy-based academic-related concerns.
  • Act as the first contact for student concerns and guide students to appropriate campus resources.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with assigned students to monitor academic progress, attendance and overall well-being.
  • Support overall institutional goal of increasing retention and graduation rates through meaningful planning and interaction.
  • Assist students in the transition from high school to higher education and support their integration into AMDA’s academic, artistic, and creative community.
  • Provide baseline academic guidance to students throughout their time at AMDA and assist in preparing students for post AMDA life.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed.
