About The Position

The Writers' Center within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Eastern Washington University is currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the position of Student Success Advisor. This is a full-time, 10-month appointment that runs from September 1st through June 30th of each academic year. The Writers' Center emphasizes working with individuals rather than just documents, and is located in a well-lit campus library that is central to other student support areas and a vibrant coffee shop. The center engages writers from various disciplines and academic levels, including high school students, graduate students, and faculty members. The role of the Student Success Advisor is to enhance writers' rhetorical awareness and facilitate learning transfer, providing personalized support tailored to the specific needs of each writer. The successful candidate will work closely with students, staff, and faculty, conducting one-on-one sessions, small group meetings, and workshops. Responsibilities include generating ideas, developing topics, creating outlines, providing constructive feedback, and assisting with language proficiency and citation styles. The position requires a collaborative approach, as the advisor will be part of a team committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to excellence in serving the community. The Writers' Center is particularly interested in multilingual candidates and those from diverse academic backgrounds. The position is primarily on-site, with at least 80% of the work conducted in person. In addition to a competitive salary range of $45,308 to $54,372, the university offers generous vacation and sick leave accruals, 12 paid holidays per year, and fringe benefits such as tuition waivers for employees, discounted sports tickets, and free transportation through STA buses. The successful candidate will join a supportive faculty and staff dedicated to improving student learning and transition into higher education, and will have the opportunity to contribute to the vibrant academic community at Eastern Washington University.
