About The Position

The Student Success Advisor II at Western Nebraska Community College is a full-time position focused on providing academic advising and retention services to students. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to education, human services, or student affairs preferred.
  • Three years of related experience in career/academic advising or student services preferred.
  • An associate's degree with significant relevant experience may be considered, with encouragement to progress toward a bachelor's degree.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Knowledge of career pathways and workforce development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively advise students with a variety of educational goals and monitor their progress.
  • Provide placement testing, academic program planning, course selection, registration, and transfer advising.
  • Offer academic support and appropriate referrals to internal and external services to enhance student engagement and retention.
  • Deliver information and services to students and stakeholders in various formats, ensuring flexible meeting times and locations.
  • Maintain current certifications related to career and academic advising, such as Strength Finders and Meyers-Briggs.
  • Support Workforce Development and non-credit offerings, including enrollment and registration.
  • Assist with scholarship programs and academic success programming, and serve as a student organization advisor.
  • Support career pathways and advising events, providing relevant information and assistance as needed.
  • Assist with the implementation and training of advising-related technology.
  • Act as a welcoming point of contact for the Student Success Center, responding promptly to inquiries.
  • Collaborate with various WNCC departments to enhance the student experience.
  • Adhere to WNCC policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties.
