About The Position

The Student Services Specialist serves as a key representative of the Ohio State University College of Nursing at The Student Experience Hub, the college’s central point of communication and a primary driver of a students’ first impressions of the college and university. This role requires advanced knowledge of undergraduate and graduate academic programs, policies, and processes and works closely with student and academic affairs team members to support college-wide objectives. The position involves administrative and operational responsibilities including independently triaging and resolving complex phone and email inquiries, interpreting and applying university policies, and coordinating a range of critical, project-based tasks. This is an onsite position that includes occasional weekends for tours and other events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strength as a team player with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong customer-centered philosophy.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and timely.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years of experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with simulation-based education, Microsoft Office, and A/V equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Works independently with little supervision in a fast-paced, team environment to answer and assist current and potential students, alumni, faculty, and staff by providing knowledgeable information regarding programs within the college and departments across the university.
  • Routinely interacts with staff, faculty, and students using effective communication to convey information of the highest importance.
  • Triages phone calls, emails, and walk-ins, providing information regarding the college’s programs by anticipating, recognizing, and solving complex issues and questions that arise from within or external to the college.
  • Interprets informs and applies university policies and procedures to assist potential and current student and family inquiries of any nature.
  • Reviews and answers online email and chat messages using diplomacy and tact to convey sensitive information.
  • Collaborates internally and externally with departments throughout the university.
  • Accurately utilizes and documents interactions in university's technology applications.
  • Reviews confidential information and adheres to office and company policies.
  • Assists with special projects and outreach and other duties as assigned.
