About The Position
The Student Services Specialist position at Odessa College is a vital role within the Wrangler Express/Call Center, which serves as the primary point of contact for students, parents, and the community. This position is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and support for a variety of student services-related needs. The specialist will engage with individuals visiting or contacting the center through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and instant messaging, ensuring that each person receives the appropriate assistance tailored to their specific needs. In this role, the specialist will utilize decision-making skills to process admissions applications and manage various documents related to the admissions process. They will guide students through the initial steps of enrollment, including interpreting residency requirements and ensuring a smooth transition into their educational journey. The specialist will also be responsible for receiving and processing official transcripts, responding to inquiries about admissions, financial aid, and registration, and assisting students with the use of WebAdvisor for registration and information retrieval. Additionally, the specialist will serve as a cashier, handling monetary transactions securely and reconciling cash drawers daily. They will advise students and parents on available payment options and assist with the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The role requires a strong ability to follow policies and procedures, multitask effectively, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. The specialist will also participate in community events to promote college programs and contribute to campus-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing the college's reputation as a leading community college.
