About The Position

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a motivated and enthusiastic Student Services Analyst (SSA) for the Disability Resources & Services (DRS) department. This position serves as a lead worker and strong team player dedicated to coordinating, administering, implementing, and improving DRS programs and services for a growing student population. This position works with students across a variety of documented disabilities to determine reasonable accommodations and services in all college environments and serves as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and external entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.
  • Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.
  • An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-Baccalaureate Certificate or Master's Degree in Post-Secondary Disability Services, Disability Services Administration, Disability Studies, or Higher Education.
  • Two years' experience reviewing assessments of disability (evaluations, medical reports, IEPs, etc.) to help identify eligibility according to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Two years' experience utilizing effective interviewing techniques to determine individualized reasonable accommodations within academic and technical standards
  • Two years' experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to coordinate and support the timely provision of services to a case load of students in a post-secondary setting.
  • Experience with process improvement techniques (including accurate data collection, analysis, presentation, and implementation)
  • Experience with functional utilization of data management systems to track progress, keep notes, and gather information to make decisions (such as Accessible Information Management System, Student Information System, Fiscal Management System, etc.)

  • Conducts an interactive process with students making accommodation requests and synthesizes information gathered to determine individualized and reasonable accommodation and access plans.
  • Applies qualitative interviewing techniques to gather appropriate and relevant information about disability-related functional imitations, barriers, access needs, and other potential support needs.
  • Evaluates documentation of disability (medical records, educational assessments, IEPs, etc.) to assist with determining strengths, needs, history of accommodation, and eligibility.
  • Reviews functional limitations in light of course and program standards, academic standards, and technical standards to determine if requested accommodations are necessary, reasonable, and appropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with the application of laws and regulations by collaborating with the Director of Disability Resources and Testing Services on complex cases.
  • Works with students, staff (DRS support staff, testing staff, tutoring staff, etc), and other appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure compliance with applicable laws and department procedures.
  • Collaborates with faculty in the interactive process to ensure appropriate implementation of accommodations, address concerns, solve problems, and coordinate course-specific needs.
  • Provides specialized holistic support to students with disabilities through academic coaching, advice on course load and modality, self-advocacy techniques, and referrals to internal and external supports.
  • Manages and administers department procedures (including within the confidential online DRS Connect - Accessible Information Management System) to ensure accuracy and timeliness in eligibility determination and implementation
  • Gathers and analyzes data to improve DRS processes, makes presentations and recommendations to leadership, and implements and tracks improvement strategies
  • Develops and presents training materials both in-person and online for students and staff.
  • Manages and processes fiscal needs according to the department budget.
  • Manages and coordinates assistive technology and vendor services, including interpreters, proctors, and note-taking.
  • Provides back-up support for DRS support staff
  • Supervises non-exempt staff.
  • Other duties as assigned, commensurate to the grade level of the position.
