The Gould School Office of Undergraduate Law is seeking a self-motivated professional to join our collaborative team as a Student Services Advisor. This candidate will advance and promote our mission of introducing students to the concepts of law early in their undergraduate studies. This position will serve as the academic advisor for prospective and current students in the Legal Studies Major, Minor Programs, Progressive Degree Programs and 3 + 3 JD Program. Our ideal candidate is team driven and will work closely with other members of our staff to help coordinate recruitment and outreach operations, oversee departmental day-to-day activities, coordinate classroom scheduling needs within and outside of Gould, engage with campus partners, administrative and other relevant units at the university, and support a foundation for strategic growth. In addition to advising prospective and current students, the Student Services Advisor will assist with orientation, registration, undergraduate record services, accessibility services and other student services functions as requested. The Student Services Advisor will evaluate student problems, academic, administrative or personal, and refer students to the appropriate student services offices for additional counseling, and liaise with other offices on behalf of students to facilitate problem resolution. The successful candidate will demonstrate skills and interest in academic advisement, recruitment and outreach, strong interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine interest in working with students, staff, and faculty involved with undergraduate courses and programs. The Student Services Advisor is responsible for student advisement and the day-to-day administrative functions of the Gould Undergraduate Programs Office. Duties include but are not limited to: Develop expertise and understanding of the university’s student services, degree requirements and academic policies to ensure accurate and proactive exploratory advising. Maintain a caring, helpful, compassionate, and professional approach to advising students. Coordinate outreach and recruitment services to a diverse group of prospective students. Respond to inquiries and requests regarding student related services. Coordinate program services with other offices and colleagues on campus. Serve as a resource for information-exchange on student and program services, student affairs, and advisement. Provide individual and group advising and administrative support to undergraduate law students. Make formal presentations to small or large groups of prospective and current USC students, as required. Assist with planning and coordinating student programs, program services and special events. Attend recruiting events on and off campus during weekdays and occasional weekends. Research and gather information for program purposes which may include: enrollment data graduation data, student assessments, and other data gathering projects as assigned. Coordinate program services and/or activities, meetings and events. Represent the law school at meetings and events. Arrange with vendors for various services. Ensure satisfactory follow through on assigned areas of responsibility. Assist with undergraduate registrar and student affairs related tasks – including scheduling, registration, exam administration, student accommodations and academic integrity matters. Coordinate communication materials promoting programs and activities, e.g., newsletters, bulletins, fact sheets, brochures and our website. Adhere to the highest standard of ethics and best practices of academic advising. Will assist with both final exam administration and proctoring at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters and commencement each year. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
