The Student Services Advisor II position at the University of Southern California (USC) focuses on providing academic advising and support for student-athletes in football and women's crew. This role involves assisting with course selection, registration, degree requirements, and career goals, while also maintaining detailed student progress records and ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations. The advisor will work closely with a diverse population of students and staff, contributing to USC's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Provides academic counseling for undergraduate and graduate student-athletes, advising on curriculum, course and degree requirements, and graduation counseling.
  • Monitors student progress and evaluates academic, administrative, or personal problems, referring students to appropriate services as needed.
  • Maintains academic unit student records and coordinates registration activities, degree progress, and enrollment with the USC Office of Academic Records and Registrar.
  • Assists with petition applications, resumes, and letters of recommendation, and interfaces with faculty and administrators regarding grading policies and academic progress.
  • Participates in regular advising staff meetings and in-person student appointments during weekdays.
  • Maintains currency with NCAA policies and regulations, as well as other student services regulations.
  • Promotes an inclusive environment and upholds the USC Code of Ethics.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred).
  • 3 years of experience in department advising or student services (5 years preferred in academic counseling/advising for at-risk student-athletes at the Division I level).
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules, particularly Bylaw 14.
  • Experience with football advising preferred.
  • Strong commitment to USC's values of integrity, excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience in academic advising for student-athletes at the collegiate level.
  • Familiarity with academic tracking technology such as Teamworks and DARS.
  • Competitive hourly rate ranging from $33.34 to $36.06.
