About The Position

The Student Security Operations Center Analyst, within UA OIT
Security, supports the UA Security Operations Center (SOC). Detects and responds
to security related events. Leverages relevant tools, technologies, processes,
and procedures. Ensures the safe and secure operation of UA systems and
networks. Responds to information security incidents and alerts. Monitors
security events, alerts, and logs from various security systems. Investigates
and triages security incidents to determine the severity, scope, and impact.
Follows established incident response procedures and playbooks to mitigate and
resolve incidents in a timely manner. Maintains accurate and detailed
documentation related to security event analysis, actions taken, and resolutions
for each event. Triages tickets. Additional information security tasks as
assigned.

Requirements

• Current University of Alabama undergraduate student
• Working knowledge of the Windows operating system
• Please list your availability when applying
• Student must be available a minimum of 12 hours per week

Nice To Haves

• Experience with IT Support, security monitoring, or incident detection and response
• Knowledge of scripting languages and data analysis tools such as Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL)
