About The Position

The Schoolyard Habitat Assistant position at Cal Poly Pomona Foundation involves working with the Ernest Prete Jr. Fellowship Program at Kellogg Elementary School. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current full-time student at Cal Poly Pomona.
• Gardening experience.
• Knowledge of growing native and non-native plants.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of artificial pond design and maintenance.
• Comfortable working in settings with insects and wildlife.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in gardening activities at Kellogg Elementary School Garden for up to 6 hours per week from January to April 2025.
• Log working hours into Kronos each day.
• Work independently without supervision.
• Maintain knowledge of artificial pond design and maintenance.
• Grow and care for native and non-native plants.
• Clear weeds and vegetation as needed.
• Use hand-held and power tools safely and effectively.
• Collaborate with the Schoolyard Habitat Coordinator and Garden Coordinator.
