About The Position

The Student Resource Advisor (SRA) will coordinate and supervise the delivery of supportive services to students at risk of attrition due to problems such as finances, social support, and relationships through various interventions, referrals, and follow-up services. The SRA will provide crisis assistance for basic needs such as shelter, food, and safety. Offer assistance identifying and accessing federal, state, and local social service providers and programs. Links students with community and college services that can help with their need for housing, child care, food, healthcare, etc. Develops safety places and referrals for services for students experiencing domestic/dating violence and serves as a confidential resource for students reporting any Title IX-related issues. Assist the Coordinator for Persistence and Completion with the operation of the campus donation-funded food pantry, intake, distribution, donations, etc., and serve as a liaison for community and state agencies needing ongoing verification of student attendance progress. This is a Title III grant funded position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling or other related field.
  • Relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in problem-solving barriers to their education by developing action plans to address academic obstacles and facilitate topic specific workshops.
  • Provide information about referrals to federal, state, and local agencies and programs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of social service providers and programs to ease the referral process.
  • Assist students in completing applications for program benefits and provide help to students in gathering and submitting required documentation for various program applications.
  • Serve as a confidential resource for students with Title IX-related concerns. Assists student in developing a safety plan or facilitates conversation between student and referral source providing safety planning.
  • Collaborate with various college departments, such as the Office of ADA, Counseling Services, TRIO – Student Support Services, etc., to provide referrals.
  • Assist with course selection and scheduling to ensure compliance with public assistance benefits.
  • Understand basic academic advising for Stop-Outs and Returning Adult Learners, program planning, and course selection to provide guidance and help students comply with public assistance benefits requirements.
