About The Position

Our laboratory is conducting translational research on cerebrovascular diseases including brain aneurysms and stroke. We use preclinical models cell culture and molecular approaches. We are looking for a research technician to work with lab personnel on various projects. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the biology and genetics of cerebrovascular diseases and prior research experience in this field. As a Student Research Intern, you will be a central figure supporting critical research initiatives, contributing directly to various stages of research under the guidance of experienced professionals. You will play a vital role in advancing scientific or academic knowledge and gaining invaluable practical experience.Every day, you will meticulously assist with diverse research tasks, which may include data collection, analysis, literature reviews, experiment preparation, or contributing to reports and presentations. You will also diligently adhere to all research protocols, ethical guidelines, and confidentiality standards, ensuring the integrity and validity of all activities.To be successful in this role, you will combine a strong academic background in a relevant field, a keen interest in research, and exceptional attention to detail. You will demonstrate a proactive learning approach, strong analytical skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment dedicated to inquiry and discovery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Graduate required
  • Undergraduate (BA/BS) Background in science field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs experiments and analysis of data with mentoring.
  • Presents periodic project updates to department mentor and staff and if appropriate to a national meeting and/or for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
  • Maintains accurate record of experiments, develops comprehensive computer skills for database searching, data acquisition, and data entry.
  • Adheres to and is familiar with the policies and safety practices of the hospital, attends all required in-services regarding biohazard, infectious, and safety issues.
  • Learns techniques necessary to conduct research in the basic sciences with a faculty mentor(s). Learns how to develop a hypothesis, design experiments to test that hypothesis, and implement new approaches to research investigations.
