The Coordinator for Operations and Outreach within the New Student and Family Engagement Office assists with the creation and fulfillment of the vision and strategic plan for long-time growth and improvement of programs and resources related to the New Student Orientation experience. This position is responsible for setting up and managing the Orientation registration and reporting system and supervising the Office Student Assistants. This includes creating session registration using Orientation software, managing session caps, student and family registration, attendance for all Orientation requirements (including live synchronous sessions and or in-person programming, Pre-Orientation content completion, and academic college requirements), and reports; updating the website as needed; creating and disseminating communication campaigns, and managing space reservations for all events and Orientation sessions. It also includes training others in the use of the software. The Coordinator for Operations and Outreach also supervises the Office Student Assistants and facilitates their hiring, training, and leadership development. New Student and Family Engagement is comprised of three offices, the Offices of Orientation, New Student Connections and Parent and Family Engagement. These units strive to advance the mission of the university by providing a seamless transition for all incoming students and families to ensure their successful entrance, navigation, and participation in a full college experience. The departments cultivate community, foster a sense of belonging, and provide individualized support aimed at assisting in the successful transition of new students and their families. Understanding the developmental needs and readiness of students and families, the departments provide support, programs, and communication to enhance the student and family experience. The units assist students and families with navigating campus resources and policies, communicating timely campus resources and deadlines, and helping to mitigate barriers that prevent student success. The staff under these units seek to introduce new students and families to people and resources in the university setting. They will provide the next steps in the enrollment process regarding academic overviews and program content, course registration and establishing an identity within the academic program. They will engage students in peer-to-peer teaching and learning while also providing a transformational experience for student leaders employed within the departments. All team members seek to unite new students under the privilege and responsibility of being USF Bulls.
