The Student, Process Engineering position at Cenovus Energy offers an exciting Co-Op/Internship opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. This role is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on work experience in a refining environment, allowing students to work alongside industry-leading professionals. The position emphasizes mentorship, skill development, and the opportunity to contribute fresh ideas to important projects.

  • Perform unit tests and analyze operating data to improve profitability.
  • Assist staff engineers with designs of less complex equipment such as piping, pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.
  • Provide operating data for planning, operations improvement, economic evaluations, etc.
  • Assist staff engineers with troubleshooting to determine causes and solutions to operating problems.
  • Maintain and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for the process units.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the scheduled semester.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship for this role will not be provided.
  • A valid US Driver's License is required as this position requires the operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Previous experience is considered an asset.
  • Availability for multiple work terms is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A multi-discipline program with meaningful, hands-on work experience.
  • Networking events coordinated by the New Grad Committee including group mentoring from senior/executive leaders, lunch 'n learns, guest speakers, technical presentations, and holiday celebrations.
  • Wide support network including direct leaders, program leads, human resources, peers, mentor(s), New Grad Committee, and buddy.
  • Structured goal-setting and performance evaluations.
  • Opportunity to present work-term learnings to the Cenovus Leadership team.
  • Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum relocation payment to assist with relocation expenses.
