About The Position

Division 2100 is a fast paced high risk cardiology division at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. We care for a variety of cardiology patients including congestive heart failure, left ventricular assist devices, post cardiac device implantation, post EP and Stent procedures. The Staff Nurse (RN) is an integral part of the patient care team using critical thinking skills and clinical expertise to continually assess the patients' status. The Staff Nurse (RN) must be certified in BLS and obtain ACLS certification within 1 year of working on the division. Role Purpose Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an RN School of Nursing and have completed one (1) semester of a fundamental medical/surgical clinical
- Minimum of 2 shifts every six weeks- Rotating
- Days or Nights
- Holiday Rotation
- Weekend Rotation
- Enrolled-accredited RN program
- No Experience

Responsibilities
- Assists nurse with patient and family education.
- Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
- Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
- Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
- Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
- Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
- Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
