Requirements

• High school diploma or (GED) equivalent is required.
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing program and has completed the first semester of Nursing Fundamentals or has completed an accredited nursing program within one (1) year and has not obtained their license for Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Basic Life Support Card.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the basic care needs of the patient under the direct observation of a licensed nurse (RN/LPN).
• Perform basic care routines and procedures, vital signs, and blood glucose check skills.
• Function as a team member in the delivery of safe, competent, therapeutic and cost-effective patient care.
• Assist patients with their activities of daily living including hygiene, skin care, nutritional needs, elimination needs, and comfort measures.
• Obtain and document vital signs per unit standards and report abnormal findings to the licensed nurse.
• Collect lab specimens as directed, per hospital standards.
• Document intake and output information for assigned patient areas.
• Ensure personal hygiene and comfort care is delivered to all patients.
