About The Position

The Student Nurse provides direct patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health. This role is essential in supporting the nursing process and ensuring quality patient care delivery.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED (required).
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation (required).

Nice To Haves

• BLS certification (preferred).
• Completion of First Clinical Rotation as a Nursing Student.
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
• Recent experience in acute care and/or long term care facility (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supports the nurse in the application of the nursing process under the direction of the RN.
• Develops critical thinking skills through collaboration with the RN.
• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, recording vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and mobility.
• Acts as a liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high level customer service to all patients, families, visitors, and employees.
• Documents patient care accurately, precisely, and timely when applicable.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
