About The Position

Basic Function: Responsible for providing physical and emotinal support assistance with acitivities of daily living (ADLs) for residents to promote highest function possible. Please Note: This position is for those individuals seeking to participate in a Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) to earn a Texas nurse aide certification. You will be expected to attend classes/clinicals and work at Texhoma Christian Care Center while participating in the program. This position REQUIRES eligible candidates to work 12-hour shifts, any day of the week.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years of age.
  • Requires basic understanding of specialized area of knowledge acquired through a completed Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) approved by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability.
  • Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to read, write and understand business documents which are written in English.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers.
  • Ability to make self clearly understood by others.
  • Completes and/or meets training and maintains current certification required by Texhoma and Texas Department of Aging and Disability.
  • Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Work deals mostly with areas such as client records, medical records, visual inspection involving small details. Visual work is primarily close to observer. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are not as critical as the ability to distinguish small details and markings very near to the observer. Color perception for some tasks is important.
  • Position requires bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, climbing, kneeling, walking and standing over 75% of shift.
  • Ability to recognize differences in sound, such as voices/noises that are loud and playful instead of angry and combative.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment under broad certified nursing care guidelines.
  • Knowledge of basic health care practices and procedures, including infection control.
  • Personality attuned to the requirements of meeting needs of the elderly, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to meet emotional and physical demands of clients and to help insure their dignity.
  • Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
  • Sufficient good health to properly discharge duties.
  • Ability to comply with Resident/Patient rights, all state/federal regulatory requirements, and all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to attend general orientation session and attend department orientation.
  • Submit to TB Tine Test and return as instructed to read results or provide results of current TB Tine Test in the last 12 months or chest xray results within last 2 years.
  • Must be employable by the Texas Nurse Aide Registry (NAR) – cannot be listed on the NAR as revoked; and cannot be considered unemployable by the Employee Misconduct Registry (EMR).
  • Cannot be convicted of a criminal offense listed in the Texas Health and Safety Code (THSC), §250.006(a), or convicted of a criminal offense listed in THSC, §250.006(b) within the five years immediately before participating in the NATCEP.
  • Must be able to work any day of the week and various shifts, including 12 hour shifts.
  • Must possess a valid (non-expired) photo-bearing form of identification that matches the name on your social security card. Examples of valid photo identification include: US Federal or State issued identification card, state issued drivers license, US government-issued military ID card, US Passport, or Alien Registration Card. Photocopies of identification will not be accepted.
  • Must possess a valid Social Security Card. Photocopies of a social security card will not be accepted.
