OVERVIEW: Upward Bound is a U.S. Department of Education TRiO funded program. The UW-Stevens Point Upward Bound Program serves eligible low-income, first-generation-to-college students in central and northern Wisconsin. The program aims to generate the skills and motivation necessary for students to enter and complete a postsecondary education after high school. This is a temporary six-week summer teaching position for high school students in the Upward Bound Program. All participants are either first-generation (i.e. parents do not have a 4-year degree) and/or low-income students, grades nine through twelve. The Upward Bound Program hosts student-participants from eight target high schools in five counties from Central and Northcentral Wisconsin.
