About The Position

POSITION OUTCOMES/EXPECTATIONS: Leadership Partner with the Director of Youth Ministry and other Youth Ministry staff to implement the Youth Ministry mission, vision, and core values of CPC Youth Ministry Work with the Director of Youth Ministry and other Youth Ministry staff to provide care and leadership for all middle school students Partner with Youth Ministry staff to create a ministry environment that is welcoming and inclusive for all students, understanding the specific needs and nuances of the student culture both inside and outside of Christ Presbyterian Church. Partner with Youth Ministry staff in the ongoing development and execution of a process of discipleship for high school students that engages, equips, and sends them out to share their faith with others. Programming Partner with Youth Ministry staff to plan and execute all Youth Ministry major events, ensuring excellence in promotion, production, execution, and attendance Partner with Youth Ministry staff to plan and execute all Youth Ministry small and large group regular programming, ensuring it is excellent in promotion, production, execution, and attendance Plan, prepare, and teach lessons, Bible studies, devotionals, etc. periodically and with language consistent with principles from the public speaking document of Christ Presbyterian Church Serve and support overall church programming including Sunday Morning worship and other church events as needed. Relationships Build consistent relationships with the students, staff, volunteers and parents associated with the Youth Ministry. Have a consistent presence in student environments (school, home, work, etc.) with a passion for meeting students where they are. Communicate clearly, winsomely, and in a timely fashion with students, parents, fellows, and adult volunteers as needed Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of a strategy to equip and empower parents to be effective in the role of primary spiritual nurturers to their children Operations Attend weekly staff meetings Meet weekly or as needed with the Director of Youth Ministry to check in on spiritual and emotional health, and go over the progress of personal and ministry goals Partner with all members of the Youth Ministry staff to contribute to the greater goals and systems of the ministry, even when the tasks do not specifically align with the rest of this job description Personal Development Pursue an intimate relationship with the Lord, including daily times of fellowship, prayer, study and other areas of Christian maturity Participate in directed regular study focused on biblical literacy, doctrinal foundations and ministry practice. Pursue ongoing learning and development in specific ministry focus areas including but not limited to: youth ministry, volunteer leadership, theological study, missions and service, and worship. Pursue emotional and spiritual health through regular rhythms of work and rest, including a weekly sabbath day and additional weekly times of personal rest and relaxation UNIVERSAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Worship Contribute to increased traffic of non-churched Nashville residents (chiefly non-Christians, de- churched people, and new residents) into CPC corporate worship services. Shepherd CPC members and attendees to increase the frequency of their Sunday worship attendance and engagement. Contribute to increased engagement of members and regular attendees in private worship involving near-daily Bible reading and prayer. Encourage Contribute to increased numbers and percentages of members/regular attendees who are meaningfully engaged (connecting at least 2x per month) in a smaller community within the church. Involvement in CORE, Connect Groups, and CPC Ministry Teams are to be especially emphasized. Contribute to the increase of regular member/attendee involvement and volunteerism in the church, especially on Sunday mornings and within your ministry area—thereby strengthening CPC as a “staff led, volunteer run” church. Help all members/attendees under your influence to engage meaningfully and enthusiastically in all-church parties, all-church outreach initiatives, etc. Through regular pursuit, recruiting, and equipping, contribute to the continual growth of CPC’s volunteer servant pool—always aiming to “turn strangers into friends, friends into family, and family into empowered servants and leaders.”

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Enthusiastic alignment with the Theology and Philosophy of Ministry as communicated in CPC 101
  • All employees must commit to performing their duties in accordance with the stated mission and purpose of the church, CPC 101, CPC Policies and Procedures Manual, and the Westminster Confession of Faith; all employees must be evangelical Christians and active members of an evangelical Christian church.
  • Commitment to join CPC as a member within first six months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred ministry experience includes: paid or volunteer youth ministry roles within the church, RUF, Young Life, other campus ministries, camp staff
  • Worship team or worship leading experience preferred
  • Game development, preparation and facilitation for both small and large group settings.
  • Strong relational skills, self-motivator with the ability to work effectively on a team
  • Desire to work with middle and high school students
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and daily tasks
