About The Position

Throughout Crossline’s history, we have placed an incredible emphasis and value on having a youth ministry that dynamically reaches and disciples students in south Orange County. As the leader of the staff, volunteers, and students that make up the High School and Middle School Ministries, the Student Ministries Pastor plays a central role in that emphasis. The Student Ministries Pastor is the chief visionary responsible for building, implementing and rallying others to a strategy of effective High School and Middle School Ministries in the current cultural environment. Working alongside parents, volunteer leaders and Crossline staff, they will care for the emotional and spiritual needs of high school and middle school students and guide them in the teachings of Jesus. Most of all, the Student Ministries Pastor is an example to high school and middle school students of what a life centered on Christ looks like.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministries/Bible preferred or equivalent ministry experience
  • A passion for youth outreach events and connecting students at all levels
  • Effective communicator in verbal and written forms to both students and parents, must have strong communication skills and mastery of the written English language
  • Experience in a church ministry setting within youth ministry preferred
  • Experience in planning events and/or organizing camps & retreats (especially if done within a ministry context)
  • Organizational skills to execute administrative duties, and proficiency in use of organizational programs (Microsoft Excel, PCO, CCB)
  • Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Magnetic interpersonal and relational skills, adaptable, flexible, and energetic to work in a team environment
  • Energetic self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit
  • Aptitude in using social media (especially if experienced with content creation in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Must have a commitment to executing assignments at the highest level of excellence, and committed to be continually developing/growing
  • A fully supportive spouse (if married)
  • Philosophical alignment with church leadership, vision, mission, DNA, culture, & environment
  • Must demonstrate a stable, growing, mature Christian life. A strong walk with Jesus as evidenced by personal habits of worship, prayer, daily devotions, and walking in the Spirit
  • Fulfill the duties required of Crossline Church members as outlined in membership covenant

Responsibilities

  • Act as programmatic lead for Sunday High School and Middle School Ministries services and Wednesday night High School and Middle School Ministries small groups.
  • Responsible for assuring that teams and volunteers are in place and well-informed of their duties within the program.
  • Responsible for the teaching calendar and teaching curriculum.
  • Function as the primary person that will be held accountable in maintaining the biblical integrity of what is being taught the High School and Middle School Ministries.
  • Whether teaching or inviting others to teach, the Student Ministries Pastor will need to uphold the correctness of things taught to coincide with Crossline tenats of faith as well as Crossline values and beliefs.
  • Will need to adequately evaluate and train student ministry group leaders for their competency in teaching and explaining the bible.
  • Create and apply effective techniques and strategies to reach new high school and middle school students.
  • Expectation is that techniques and strategies will be creative and culturally relevant.
  • Establishing a culture of outreach within High School and Middle School Ministries is a fundamental obligation of the Student Ministries Pastor’s job.
  • Regularly and intentionally find ways to be present with students on high school and middle school campuses.
  • Develop a student leadership team and activate them into ministry opportunities.
  • Onboard, train and direct the team of adult volunteers serving within High School and Middle School Ministries.
  • Assimilating new leaders into the ministry must be done through a clear and consistent structure that is defined by the Student Ministries Pastor.
  • Work closely with the rest of the student ministry staff to maintain a unified team and a cohesive student experience.
  • Plan and coordinate High School and Middle School Ministries events, camps, and retreats.
  • Build an effective connection process for new high school and middle school students From Sundays, determining the best way to connect new students AND families to all areas of student ministries and Crossline, and then executing that vision From Groups/events/camps/trips, determining the best way to connect new students AND families that participated to all areas of student ministries and Crossline, and then executing that vision
  • Discipling and providing Christian counsel to high school and middle school students Not just waiting for students to bring their needs, but, outside of Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, proactively meeting with and discipling students who are in the ministry.
  • Relationally engage and communicate with parents of high school and middle school students within your ministry.
  • Meet consistently with ministry supervisor to update on ministry and goals
  • Attend all Crossline Directors meetings to represent and report on the High School and Middle School Ministries.
  • As a Crossline pastor, must be present and available to relationally connect with members and families who may not be associated with High School and Middle School Ministries, but are part of the greater body of Crossline.
  • Student Ministries Pastor must be intentional to find ways to be present on the patio between and after Sunday services.
  • Recommended that the Student Ministries Pastor attends and completes the Crossline discipleship pathway in order to meet others and become familiar with the process.
  • Through the year, attend and serve at several all-church events (Easter, Christmas, VBS, etc.)
