About The Position

In this position, the Learning Facilitators III (tutors) provide personalized learning support, in person and online (through WebEx or Google Meet), to Rio Salado College students to enhance the student's understanding, skills, and overall academic performance while fostering relationships with students, staff, and faculty. The session can be one-on-one or small group. We are accepting applications for the following subject areas: math, CIS (MS Office Suite, htm/css, JAVA programming), English/writing, chemistry, and biology (anatomy & physiology, microbiology). To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of subject areas including math, CIS (MS Office Suite, htm/css, JAVA programming), English/writing, chemistry, and biology (anatomy & physiology, microbiology).
• Ability to provide personalized learning support in both in-person and online formats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with students, staff, and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates student learning by helping to clarify specific course content and promoting/modeling critical thinking, understanding and problem-solving skills for conceptual understanding and learning.
• Demonstrates, models and uses appropriate learning/study strategies to promote self-regulated learning.
• Helps students achieve their learning potential and succeed academically.
• Attends and actively participates in any scheduled tutor training and meetings.
• Maintains a clean and studious environment in the Center.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
