The Student Loan Coordinator, under direct supervision of the Financial Aid Management team, oversees student loan counseling sessions and monitors compliance with the plan to assure lowest possible default rates. Responsibilities include performing a variety of duties associated with certification, award, disbursement, and return of funds under the federal Stafford Direct Loan Program.

Requirements

  • High School/GED-Associates Degree a plus
  • Microsoft Office, NSLDS, COD, FAAACESS, ED Express, Internal Database
  • Minimum 2 years of experience Title IV in an Educational Institution.
  • Alternative or combined skills in understanding, advising, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; Skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring default prevention efforts for active CDR’s
  • Track withdrawal and graduation dates for current borrowers to fulfill exit counseling requirements.
  • Communicate effectively and on a timely basis with student borrowers, lender services, and guarantee agencies concerning application status, enrollment status, and default aversion information.
  • Conduct student presentations to include financial literacy, entrance and exit counseling, and other outreach activities.
  • Attend financial aid training and workshops to keep abreast of changes in federal law and procedures.
  • Assist in implementation of changes in loan policies per federal regulations.
  • Serve as liaison between students, campus administrative office and third-parties such as loan servicers and the Department of Education to facilitate timely resolutions for At-Risk student loan borrowers.
