Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
  • A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
  • Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, the Clery Act, and related policies, including the responsibilities of a Responsible Employee and Campus Security Authority.
  • Ability to learn and apply CSU/Title V policies, university regulations, and procedures related to student organizations, student activities, and governance.
  • Proficiency with educational and administrative technologies, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, PeopleSoft, Canvas, and student engagement tools (e.g., Modern Campus Suite, Qualtrics, Canva).
  • Skill in developing and facilitating workshops, trainings, and programs for student organizations, leadership development, and identity or academic success centers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information clearly, write concise reports, and build effective working relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility, organization, and attention to detail despite frequent interruptions or shifting priorities.
  • Ability to understand, develop, and monitor fiscal budgets and utilize software tools to create, analyze, and present documents, data, and resource materials.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative programs focusing on academic excellence, leadership development, and student wellbeing
  • Provide strategic guidance to fraternity and sorority organizations
  • Partner with the Associate Director to enhance the Greek life experience
  • Support broader student success initiatives across the Dean of Students office
