Collaborating with faculty and staff, the Student Learning Specialist will assist students with the mastery of material learning concepts by providing strategies and academic reinforcement to students throughout their academic program. Working with students individually and in small groups, the Student Learning Specialist assesses learning styles, identifies strengths, and discovers opportunities for academic development. The Student Learning Specialist creates and implements personalized remediation plans for students as they prepare for academic and professional success.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree required. Preferred health-care related degree, or communications, education, psychology.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate via telephone, computer, and in person
• One (1) year experience in an academic environment supporting classroom instruction or specialized tutoring support preferred

Responsibilities

• Supports instruction and remediation; study strategies; time management; stress reduction
• Trains and supervises students who work as peer tutors and exam proctors
• Supervises academic support staff
• Demonstrates current, detailed, accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN as well as currency in nursing practice
• Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of College academic policies
• Collaborates with track coordinators, course coordinators, and course faculty
• Directs the daily operations of the Personalized Academic Student Success (PASS) program
