About The Position

The position involves planning and implementing service learning and volunteer opportunities as well as other civic programming on campus and in the community. The role is part of the Center for Civic Learning and Community Engagement, focusing on enhancing civic engagement among students at Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC).

Requirements

  • Must have completed at least one semester at MWCC, and be currently enrolled, or a recent graduate (within 2 years).
  • Be able to commit to 10 hours a week/500 hours total.
  • Proven leadership ability, record of volunteerism/service, positive attitude, flexibility and a desire to positively impact the college and the local community is necessary.
  • Must be able to commit to a week-long Training in August.
  • Commit from August to June.

Nice To Haves

  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA with a 3.3+.

Responsibilities

  • Work as an employee of the Center for Civic Learning and Community Engagement to supplement civic programming at the college.
  • Recruit and manage student volunteers and service learning students from the college.
  • Provide support and respond to student questions and needs regarding service learning and volunteering.
  • Provide campus-wide volunteer opportunities and civic education events/programming for students.
  • Plan and implement volunteer and service learning opportunities for students.
  • Ensure that MWCC students providing service learning or volunteer hours are familiar with how to report service hours and fill out necessary paperwork; provide training as necessary.
  • Work with Center staff and faculty to conceptualize and implement service learning projects and events.
  • Attend bi-weekly SLICE meetings / professional development training.
  • Plan at least two campus-wide volunteer opportunities each semester.
  • Submit monthly reports to the program director.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to enhance the success of the program.
