About The Position

WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION FROM ALL STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF WORK STUDY AWARD UNM Neurology is hiring for a student position to fill the role of Office Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for a student employee to provide administrative support to clinical research operations within the department. Responsibilities include a range of basic office activities: greeting and directing study participants; answering questions; performing routine clerical work and data entry; assisting with clinical research projects and events; making, receiving, and routing patient phone calls; communicating with faculty to collect, maintain and ensure documentation is completed and signed; and running various routine errands as required for the clinic/department and as appropriate to the position. In addition, there will be opportunities to perform miscellaneous entry-level IT support. We are looking for a team player that is detailed-oriented and resourceful, displays initiative and follows through, and possesses strong organizational, communication, and computer skills. The selected student must exhibit a professional demeanor, have appropriate office etiquette, and be organized and task-oriented. The selected student will be responsible for completing tasks with accuracy and by their assigned deadlines. Typical work hours will be M-F, between the hours of 8:00AM – 5:00PM. Work schedules are flexible and will be worked out with the supervisor before beginning employment. The selected student must be able to work a minimum of 10-20 hours per week. Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count)

Nice To Haves

  • Skilled in the use of operating basic office equipment including use of copiers and telephones
  • Skilled in clerical work including preparing and printing routine correspondence, labels, and/or other basic written material
  • Skilled in word processing and data entry
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates clear and effective oral and written communication
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of electronic devices including troubleshooting is a plus
