About The Position

The Student Intern in Information Technology, Solutions Delivery Development at L.A. Care Health Plan is designed for individuals pursuing a degree in IT or related fields. This part-time internship provides an opportunity to engage in specialized projects, administrative tasks, and data management processes within a collaborative environment. Interns will gain hands-on experience in healthcare data management, including data analysis, documentation, and project development, while receiving mentorship from experienced professionals.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree and field placement program.
  • General experience writing, meeting project deadlines, and working with basic Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or any IT-related major.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and data management concepts such as data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL process.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present concepts creatively.
  • An enthusiastic and detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to problem-solving and research.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with specialized project and administrative tasks to ensure the coordination and completion of all segments of the assigned project.
  • Compile and consolidate reports and prepare presentations based on findings or outcomes.
  • Complete the project timeline ensuring management reviews and approves it.
  • Conduct research and gather data for reports and presentations.
  • Work closely with assigned staff and varying levels of management.
  • Maintain cooperation and participation with key people involved in the project.
  • Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures, and rules governing professional staff behavior.
  • Maintain professional relationships with company employees and customers.
  • Utilize a courteous, enthusiastic, open-minded, critical approach to policies and procedures within the profession.
  • Relate and apply knowledge acquired in the academic setting to the company setting.
  • Prepare for and utilize conferences and other learning opportunities afforded in the company.
  • Submit all work assignments to the supervisor and faculty coordinator punctually.
  • Provide the faculty coordinator with periodic progress reports.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
