Learning Objectives and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Gain an understanding of how the Facilities Department supports daily business operations within an insurance company Learn basic facilities management principles, including building operations, safety, and maintenance coordination Observe and assist with preventive maintenance planning and tracking for office buildings and equipment Learn how work orders are received, prioritized, documented, and closed Support vendor coordination, including service scheduling, site access, and follow-up documentation Assist with office space planning, moves, and minor reconfigurations Learn workplace safety standards, emergency procedures, and regulatory compliance basics (e.g., OSHA awareness) Assist with inventory tracking for facilities supplies, furniture, and equipment Develop professional communication skills by interacting with internal departments and external vendors Use Microsoft Excel and Word to maintain logs, reports, and facilities documentation Understand sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives within corporate facilities Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and a willingness to support department needs as assigned Projects/Opportunities General cleaning an upkeep of the building Exterior trim painting Interior painting Floor wax/polish Deep clean, including detail dusting and interior window cleaning Assist with subcontracted project oversight including exterior masonry projects and boardroom remodel Back up Facilities Tech’s regular duties, including mail runs, snack/drinks restocking, ordering lunches when needed Assist with setup and takedown for group meetings, luncheons, special events, etc.
