About The Position

This Student Intern position offers 10 to 12 weeks of full-time work experience, providing students with an opportunity to apply their developing knowledge and skills in engineering, architecture, sustainability, and/or project management. Students will gain a better appreciation for the pressures that affect decision-making in today's healthcare environment and identify additional skills needed to prepare them for a rewarding career in engineering, facilities operations, and construction.

Requirements

  • Progress towards a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a science-related discipline.
  • Completion of freshman level engineering or architecture course of study (or equivalent).
  • Must be a full-time student, or if working in the summer months (Mid-May through Mid-Sept), must be planning to return to full-time status in the fall.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with staff operations, sustainability and project managers on a variety of technical assignments
  • Assist Operations managers on compliance surveys, rounding and maintenance validation
  • Perform engineering and economic calculations
  • Report any discrepancies or inconsistencies in data and/or reports to management timely.
  • Work with Operations and project managers on inspections, equipment and other data collection, analysis and documentation.
  • Adhere to compliance and departmental policies and procedures including compliance with 100% of HIPAA requirement, required.
  • Work independently, take initiative and think critically
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of departments within NYULMC and NYUMC vendors
  • Assist with providing constructive feedback, and developing training tools and policy and procedures
