About The Position

ISO New England is the independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in our region and planning for the future of the electric grid. We are at the forefront of New England’s ongoing transition to clean energy. The internship title is Dynamic Dashboard Development & Energy Market Analyst Intern in the Internal Market Monitoring department. This internship is perfect for students who love data analysis, visualization, and problem-solving. You’ll gain hands-on experience in energy markets, learn how to communicate insights to management, and see how your work helps shape New England’s transition to cleaner, smarter energy systems.

Requirements

  • Must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, document, and share new knowledge.
  • Interest in data analysis, visualization, and energy markets.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors: Data Analytics, Computer Science.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to monitor wholesale electricity outcomes and market participant behavior.
  • Pull complex market data, analyze outputs, and develop dynamic dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings.
  • Research and document new methodologies, tools, and functionalities to support team understanding and efficiency.
  • Present insights and visualizations to other groups or management in clear, easy-to-understand formats.
  • Learn about electricity markets, ISO New England’s operations, and the role of market monitoring in supporting clean and efficient markets.
