About The Position
The application period for Fall Internships with the New Haven Police Department will be June 1- June 14, 2025. Candidates must apply during this application period. The Fall Internship session is from September 1 - December 15, 2025. Undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled in an accredited college course of criminal justice are eligible to apply for the New Haven Police Department's (NHPD) Academic Internship Program. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis, and placement depends on department needs, student needs, qualifications and goals, and availability. Intern placements must be approved by both the student's academic advisor and the New Haven Police Training Academy Commander or Deputy Commander in their absence. Selected students will be required to sign a basic release regarding background information checks, Ride-Along Waivers, and a confidentiality agreement.
