About The Position

ISO New England is the independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in our region and planning for the future of the electric grid. We are at the forefront of New England’s ongoing transition to clean energy. As an intern on ISO New England’s Operations team, you’ll design and build custom software tools that make the electric grid run smarter and faster. From coding in Python, R, or SQL to analyzing data and automating processes, you’ll work on projects that directly impact how New England’s power system operates. If you enjoy creating practical tech solutions and want to see your work make a real difference, this internship is for you!

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with relational databases and application development.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages, such as R, Python, MATLAB, VBA, SQL, and C#.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing software and processes used by System Operations and Market Administration teams to identify areas for improvement.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain bespoke software solutions.
  • Perform occasional data analysis to support departmental decision-making.
  • Collaborate with OAT staff and SOMA business teams to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
